Empowering Neurodiverse Children and the Families Who Love Them
The Nisnevich Institute for Neurodiverse Empowerment (NINE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to early diagnosis, family education, and inclusive developmental support for neurodiverse children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Who We Are
The Nisnevich Institute for Neurodiverse Empowerment (NINE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to improving access to developmental services for neurodiverse children and their families.
Our work focuses particularly on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental differences.
Founded by developmental psychologist Dr. Lissarette Nisnevich, the Institute was created to address the persistent gap between when developmental differences first appear and when families are able to access meaningful support.
Across the United States, families often wait years for diagnostic evaluations and services. These delays can significantly affect a child's long-term developmental outcomes.
NINE works to bridge this gap through education, advocacy, and community partnerships.

Our Mission
At the Nisnevich Institute for Neurodiverse Empowerment, our mission is to ensure that every neurodiverse child and family has access to timely, culturally responsive, and high-quality support services.
Through research-informed programs, community partnerships, and advocacy, we work to expand access to early diagnosis, developmental resources, and inclusive education systems that empower children to reach their full potential.
Why Our Work Matters
Autism now affects 1 in 36 children in the United States, making it one of the most common developmental conditions in childhood.
Yet families often face enormous barriers when seeking support:
-
Long waiting lists for developmental evaluations
-
Limited access to qualified specialists
-
Complex special education systems
-
Cultural and language barriers
-
Financial obstacles to early intervention
Without early support, children may miss critical developmental windows. The Nisnevich Institute works to ensure that no family faces these challenges alone.

Our Impact
Although the need for developmental support continues to grow, meaningful change begins with community awareness and access to resources. Through our work, the Nisnevich Institute aims to:

Mateo’s Story
“ Without the help of The NINE, our son Mateo would have fallen through the cracks.”
– Maria G… Mother
Diagnosed at age four, Mateo is a bright young boy growing up in a low-income urban community. The NINE helped his family navigate the diagnostic process and connected them with the resources and support they needed.
